Today we begin exploring the vibrant city of Porto, traveling comfortably with our private minibus and driver so we can move effortlessly between the city’s most charming neighborhoods and hidden culinary corners.
We’ll dive straight into the city’s rich food culture with a private Old Town food tour, led by a local expert who will guide us through Porto’s backstreets to uncover beloved neighborhood taverns, pastry shops, and culinary gems most visitors never find on their own. Along the way we’ll taste artisan cheeses, charcuterie, and traditional Portuguese pastries while learning the stories behind the small producers who keep these traditions alive.
(We'll even visit some iconic spots to sample dishes the late great Anthony Bourdain enjoyed during his Porto episode)
Later, we’ll cross the Douro River for an exclusive visit and premium tasting at the legendary Graham’s Port Lodge, one of the most renowned port houses in the world. Inside the historic cellars, we’ll discover the centuries-old craft behind Portugal’s most iconic wine before enjoying a curated tasting of exceptional vintage ports — the perfect way to deepen our appreciation for the Douro Valley’s rich wine heritage. Dinner tonight is on your own to stroll along the river or enjoy a light bite at the hotel.

After breakfast we’ll check out of our Porto hotel and set off by private minibus into one of Europe’s most breathtaking wine regions: the UNESCO-listed Douro Valley. As we travel deeper into the countryside, the landscape transforms into a patchwork of terraced vineyards cascading toward the Douro River — a setting so picturesque it feels almost unreal. This historic valley has been producing wine for centuries and is considered the heart of Portugal’s celebrated port wine tradition.
Our first stop is Quinta do Seixo, one of the Douro’s most beautiful wine estates. Here we’ll enjoy a guided visit through the vineyards and winery while learning about the region’s unique terroir and winemaking traditions. We’ll then settle in for a relaxed tasting of Sandeman’s renowned ports — including white, ruby, and tawny styles — followed by a delicious lunch at the estate’s restaurant overlooking the valley.
Later in the afternoon we’ll experience the Douro from its most magical perspective: the river itself. During a private cruise along the Douro, we’ll glide past terraced vineyards and sun-drenched hillsides while enjoying a glass of port and the peaceful rhythm of the valley.
By evening we’ll arrive at our next extraordinary stay, the elegant Torel Quinta da Vacaria, a luxurious wine estate set right along the river. Surrounded by vineyards and sweeping views, with a gorgeous spa and panoramic pool, this will be our home for the next part of the journey as we settle into the relaxed beauty of Douro wine country. You can enjoy dinner on your own tonight at our hotel - there are multiple options including Michelin awarded Schisto.

Along the way we’ll pause for a guided tasting of several wines produced right here on the estate — a memorable way to experience the land where these bottles begin.
Later, our private driver will take us deeper into the valley for another special winery visit at Quinta de São Luiz, a beautiful vineyard estate known for crafting the celebrated wines of Kopke. During our guided visit we’ll learn about the history of the Douro region and the journey from grape to glass before enjoying a curated tasting of both still wines and classic Ports.
We’ll then settle in for a relaxed picnic lunch right among the vines, savoring local flavors while overlooking the sweeping Douro landscape — one of those moments that perfectly captures the quiet elegance of this extraordinary wine region.
The afternoon offers time to continue exploring the valley at a relaxed pace before returning to our luxurious vineyard retreat for the evening.

Wednesday October 21, 2026
After breakfast we’ll say goodbye to the Douro Valley and begin our scenic journey south toward Lisbon. Traveling comfortably by private minibus, we’ll make two memorable stops along the way to experience more of Portugal’s coastal beauty and culture.
Our first stop is the charming canal city of Aveiro, often called the “Venice of Portugal.” Here we’ll explore the historic center on a guided walking tour through colorful streets lined with elegant Art Nouveau buildings. Along the way we’ll sample Aveiro’s famous sweet specialty, ovos moles, before boarding one of the city’s traditional moliceiro boats for a relaxed cruise through the canals. We’ll finish our visit with a special stop at a local oyster farm where we’ll taste freshly harvested oysters paired with sparkling wine.
Continuing along Portugal’s stunning Atlantic coastline, we’ll stop in the dramatic seaside town of Nazaré, famous for its towering cliffs, wide golden beaches, and legendary surf culture. This picturesque fishing village offers sweeping ocean views and a glimpse into Portugal’s deep maritime traditions.
By late afternoon we’ll arrive in Lisbon, Portugal’s vibrant and sophisticated capital city set along the Tagus River. We’ll check into our beautiful hotel, Convent Square Lisbon, a luxurious boutique property created from a restored historic convent tucked along a peaceful pedestrian street in the heart of the city — the perfect place to unwind before we begin exploring Lisbon together.

Thursday October 22, 2026
Today we dive deeper into Lisbon’s culture through one of its greatest pleasures: food. Our morning begins with a private historic neighborhoods foodie tour, where we’ll wander through Lisbon’s charming streets discovering the flavors locals love most. Along the way we’ll stop into traditional shops, bakeries, and tucked-away taverns to taste a variety of Portuguese specialties — from savory petiscos to beloved pastries — while learning about the culinary traditions that have shaped Lisbon for generations.
Our expert guide will weave together food, history, and local stories as we explore the neighborhoods, ending the experience the traditional way with a toast of ginjinha, Lisbon’s famous sour cherry liqueur, enjoyed in a classic century-old tavern.
Later we’ll continue exploring the city with our private driver, heading toward the elegant riverside district of Belém, one of Lisbon’s most historically significant areas. This beautiful waterfront neighborhood is home to many of Portugal’s most iconic landmarks tied to the country’s Age of Discovery. Strolling along the riverfront, we’ll take in the impressive architecture, grand monuments, and sweeping views of the Tagus River while learning about the explorers who once set sail from these shores.
It’s a day that beautifully blends Lisbon’s culinary traditions with its fascinating history, offering a deeper appreciation for the city’s culture, flavors, and enduring spirit.

Friday October 23, 2026
Just beyond Lisbon lies one of Portugal’s most enchanting destinations: Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its misty hills, lush forests, and storybook palaces. With our private driver and guide, we’ll journey into this magical landscape to visit the iconic Pena Palace, a vibrant 19th-century royal residence perched high above the surrounding countryside. With fast-track entry and a guided tour, we’ll explore its colorful terraces, fascinating history, and sweeping panoramic views stretching all the way to the Atlantic.
From the hills of Sintra we continue toward the coast to the elegant seaside town of Cascais, once a favored retreat of Portuguese royalty. This sophisticated coastal village blends golden beaches, dramatic Atlantic views, charming streets, and a relaxed café culture that invites lingering strolls along the marina and waterfront promenades.
The combination of Sintra’s romantic grandeur and Cascais’ effortless coastal elegance makes for one of the most memorable days of the journey — a beautiful balance of history, scenery, and the relaxed lifestyle that defines Portugal.
Saturday October 24, 2026
Our final full day in Portugal begins with one of the country’s most beloved culinary traditions: pastéis de nata. During a hands-on workshop led by professional pastry chefs, we’ll learn how to make these iconic Portuguese custard tarts completely from scratch — from preparing the delicate pastry to achieving that perfectly caramelized custard top. It’s a fun and delicious way to connect with one of Portugal’s most famous treats.
Later in the day we’ll experience one of Lisbon’s most moving cultural traditions with an intimate Fado performance set inside a remarkable underground space — a restored 19th-century water reservoir beneath the Príncipe Real Garden. The natural acoustics of this historic setting create an unforgettable atmosphere as the soulful melodies of Portugal’s traditional music fill the chamber.
Our journey concludes with a special farewell dinner at Solar dos Presuntos, one of Lisbon’s most celebrated restaurants. Known for its exceptional seafood, classic Portuguese cuisine, and impressive wine cellar, this beloved dining institution offers the perfect setting to celebrate the memories made throughout our time together. Over a beautiful meal and fine Portuguese wines, we’ll raise a final toast to an incredible week of food, culture, and unforgettable experiences.
